Military enthusiasts will consider the Army Museum as one of the top things to do in Port Dickson. Nestled next to a Malaysian army camp, this Port Dickson attraction documents the army through the ages, including from the 16th century Melaka Sultanate through colonial occupation by the Portuguese, Dutch and British, followed by the Japanese occupation and Malaysian army, in two repurposed army buildings and nine galleries.
The outdoor exhibits on display, which includes an old steam train, medieval cannons, modern-day anti-aircraft guns, helicopters, tanks, cargo planes and fighter jets, are perfect for photo taking. At the centre of the museum’s compound is a monument dedicated to the fallen Malaysian soldiers. The monument consists of a towering obelisk and a majestic fountain, surrounded by four small obelisks, which are etched with the names and rank of the fallen soldiers.
One of the highlights of this Port Dickson attraction is the CPM (Communist Party of Malaysia) tunnel – a recreation of an underground tunnel used by Communist guerillas during the Malay Emergency.
